Bomberman VS Digger is a sequel to Bomberman: Panic on Boarder. It also shares many of the same characteristics, including a similar cast of characters, but has been updated for the current age of gaming. The game puts a new spin on the traditional game, where bombs are now used as weapons, and the objective is more like playing an adventure game instead of a game where you shoot enemies. This can add a great deal of excitement to the game and give it more staying power than the original.
As with the original game, you take on the role of a lone character who must travel to different islands in order to defeat monsters and other bad guys. This time around, though, you're not the only character in the game. There are now four more playable characters (two of which are unlockable), and they are joined by two enemies - the Bumpy and the Wiggler. The game is played on large, circular stages, and features many secrets to find. A lot of the levels can be played again, giving you plenty of replay value, and the game is designed in such a way that it's easy to pick up and play from start to finish.
When the bombs are in place, the screen goes black for about five seconds, and then the bombs begin to fall and explode. As the player shoots enemies, the bomb explodes, and so it continues to do so until all enemies have been defeated. At the end of the stage, the timer ends, and you earn points. Points can be spent on various upgrades, and the game even includes a level select feature - which lets you choose different stages for your next play session.
